Dolphin Search Gran Canaria

The most popular Gran Canaria Dolphin Trips

Where do the Dolphin & Whale Trips start?

Most of the sailings are leaving from either the Puerto Base harbour or the Puerto Escala in the Southern tourist resort of Puerto Rico. If you are arriving by bus then both are a pleasant 10-minute walk from the main bus station.

There are some hotel pick-ups that can be arranged from certain locations on the island. There are also trips going out of Puerto de Mogan and a popular choice is taking this combined with a visit to the wonderful Friday Market. You can also join from Arguineguin or Anfi del Mar by taking the daily ferry and adding on the trip. Sailings are most days of the week and usually with a couple of sailings a day, so always something to fit in with your holiday schedule.

How long does the Dolphin Search Trip last?

The dolphin and whale search trips in Gran Canaria last from 2 to 4 hours depending on the one you book and they are suitable for all ages. There is plenty of seating and the boats are wheelchair accessible. There is also a lower deck with windows so you can be at a great level to watch the whales and dolphins as they approach the boat. The Lineas Salmon has a glass bottom for the ultimate viewing experience.

Can you see Whales & Dolphins all year round?

There are sightings all year round so there is no need to miss out whenever you are visiting the island. With over 30 species of whales and dolphins living in their own natural habitat you are going to love this trip. You could see spotted dolphins, 30-metre whales, as well as pilot whales or the very rare beaked whales. Plus, the chance to see sharks, turtles, flying fish and other marine fauna. Whales and dolphins are very curious creatures! The whales & dolphins can often be seen playing with their young, swimming, eating or even watching you. The dolphins are very family orientated so you often see the whole family of mum, dad and babies swimming together.

What do I need to take along?

There are complimentary water and soft drinks included in the price and it is also possible to purchase alcohol and snacks onboard. The price also includes insurance. Some of the trips also offer you the chance for a swim on the way back so don’t forget your swim wear and towels. Make sure you also take your sun cream and hats. The sun is really strong especially when you are out in the ocean. We would also recommend you take a jumper in the winter months as the wind can be quite fresh. Do not forget to take a camera or your phone to take photos, this is going to be an unforgettable experience with some great photo opportunities.

Catamaran dolphin cruise

The crew onboard are super knowledgeable and fun and will help to make your trip an unforgettable part of your holiday.

This excursion is obviously weather dependent. However, with pretty much glorious weather all year round this shouldn’t be a problem. Of course, if the boat can’t sail you would be offered a full refund or a booking on another day. When you book you are also allowed to cancel with a full refund, up to 24 to 48 hours before, depending on the trip.

When to book your Dolphin Search Gran Canaria?

These trips are hugely popular and especially in the summer months, therefore we recommend you book your dolphin & whale search at least two days ahead during low season. And a week or more in advance during high season, which is during Easter weeks, and in the month from June to September.

Welcome to the Love Gran Canaria SHOP. I felt the need to create a direct link between sellers and buyers and that is how this Gran Canaria Shop was born.
