Most well known theme parks
The most well-known theme parks are the Aqualand and Palmitos Park. The water park in Maspalomas is obviously very popular, especially in the hot summer months. What better way to cool down with some exhilarating fun on the slides and rides and a huge wave pool. There is an excellent area for the smaller children, so they don’t miss out on the fun.

Another one of the islands theme parks is located just a little further up the road, which is Palmitos Park. A botanical zoo themed park with shows throughout the day, an aquarium, butterfly and orchid house, birds of prey, exotic animals, and an amazing dolphin show. Both theme parks are located just outside of Maspalomas with buses running regularly throughout the day.
Back in time to the Wild West
Another popular long standing theme park is Sioux City. Originally built back in the 70’s as a western filmset. This Western style theme park is hidden away in the valley of Bahia Feliz, San Agustin. As soon as you enter the park and walk through the town you will feel like you have stepped back in time. An interactive venue where you will see live shows in the saloon and a cowboy and Indian shoot out!

Visit the best Fairground!
In recent years the venue Holiday World has been refurbished to a whole new level. The Wooland theme park is everything you would want from a funfair with over 30 attractions like the big wheel, pirate ship, hook a duck, hot dogs and candy floss! There are bumper cars and even carousels for the little ones and you cannot go to this park without having a go on the ‘Toro’ – the Bull ride!
At the Holiday World theme park, you will also find a fantastic choice of bars including a fantastic sports bar with games to play and large screens for all your sporting events. There is also a Casino, Karaoke and Escape rooms.
When it comes to dining you will be absolutely spoilt for choice at the Nomad Gastro Market with over 400 culinary delights for you to choose from!

Ultimate Family Fun
Angry Birds Activity Park in Puerto Rico for the younger kids but can be equally enjoyed by young teens and even the ‘big kids’ This 5,000 m2 park has a whole host of exciting activities to enjoy. The park is filled with different spaces to run, climb, jump & leap guaranteeing a fully action packed day out. There is also a splash area and on certain days a foam party, so don’t forget your swim wear and towel. Tickets are for the full day, but you can come and go as you please. There is also a 5D cinema and Mini golf which you can enjoy for a small extra cost. There is also an excellent Snack bar serving fun and international food suitable for kids.
Hidden gems!
There are also some lesser well-known attractions and theme parks around the island where you can most definitely enjoy some family fun. In the very North of the island in Arucas there is a place called GrancAventura Aventure Park. This is a huge activity playground with 3 different Treetop climbing circuits. There is also 120 metres of Zip line, a paintball field and an great restaurant,
What about some Action?
If action is your kind of thing then you might also want to check out Europe’s biggest Airsoft theme park, Hanger 37 in San Agustin. This is an absolute must if you are a gamer or enjoy an adrenaline filled group activity. Hanger 37 is set over huge grounds filled with tunnels, bunkers, pipes, old tanks and planes. You will be provided with everything you need such as a uniform and weapons.

Lazer Drome indoor fun
On the same site there is also the Laser Combat game hall. An exciting spacious laser drome with more than 10 different games to enjoy. This is thrilling indoor fun for all ages.

Incredible Marine life
In December 2017 the incredible Poema del Mar Aquarium opened it’s doors in the El Muelle area of Las Palmas. This is an absolute MUST of a visit. It is a unique and wonderful place for all the family where you will find a wide variety of animals of all shapes and sizes plus of course some incredible marine life. The whole exhibition is a fascinating experience, and you cannot fail to be wow’ed by the sharks in the huge aquarium.

Animal rescue theme park
Sticking with the animal theme then what about a visit to the Crocodile Park in Aguimes. However this is an animal park with a difference in that all the animals have been rescued. Many of the animals have been brought in after being abused or neglected. There are shows throughout the day and of course you will get to meet the crocodiles and just maybe you will be lucky and get to see the babies. There are buses to Crocodile Park however to get the best from the shows we do recommend that you go by car.
Do not miss the camels!
You cannot come to Gran Canaria without a ride on a camel. What a perfect way to see a little bit of the interior of the island and visit the Camel Safari Park in Fataga. Enjoy an enjoyable camel ride through the valley plus try typical Canarian food in the onsite restaurant. A wonderful location surrounded by palm trees and a variety of fruit trees.

Amazing Cactus
If animals are not your thing then a visit to the Cactualdea Park La Aldea at La Aldea de San Nicolás is a real hidden gem. Cactus are not everyone’s favourite plant but you will be amazed at the weird and wonderful different species. There is also a lovely café to have a snack or refreshments.

Fun in the Escape Roms
Our final place to visit for something a little different is the Fox in a Box Escape Rooms in San Fernando. Two different escape rooms for up to six people. Brilliant fun and something just a little bit different. You will be supplied with all the equipment and tools you need for your escape!
So, as you can see there really is something for everyone of all ages. Big kids and small! We hope you discover some of these lesser-known theme parks and have some fun.
